Swimming

Fun for the entire family all summer long awaits you at Fox Hill. Pool parties and other family events are hosted throughout the summer. Our pool is generally open from Memorial Day through Labor Day and lifeguards are on duty during open pool hours. Snack bar service and menu service is also available at our pool.

The Fox Hill Club Swim Team is a member of the Boulder Valley Summer Swim League. We compete during the months of June and July against other clubs in and around Boulder County. We range in age from 3 (pre-team) to 18. The abilities vary from beginners to some of the top swimmers in the BVSSL.

Practice begins the first day of summer break and continues until the third week in July. We practice Monday-Friday in the mornings and compete on Saturdays (six dual meets. At the end of the season all swimmers in the league can swim in a large meet against every team in the league for the League Championships.

Our philosophy is that our swimmers will learn to swim WELL and have FUN in the process. We do understand that this is "summer" swimming and therefore we will work individually with each swimmer and family to make the program fit. We have swimmers who range from first timers, who only want to practice three times per week, to multi-sport athletes, who are juggling all of their activities, to the die-hard competitors, who come to every practice and swim meet. The coaches at Fox Hill are highly qualified in both technique and training techniques. Each practice, swimmers will learn new aspects of the sport.

Despite being one of the smaller teams in our league (usually around 100) our swimmers have set numerous BVSSL records; won high point awards at Finals; placed top five in the High School State Swim Meet; and we have several go on to earn swimming scholarships in college.

We also have a pre-team option — a program for kids who love the water, but are not ready for full practices. These youngsters are usually age 3-7 and have practice for 30 minutes twice a week. If they want, they can swim in two of our home swim meets where our older swimmers get in the water with them to "help" them across the pool if needed. We hold an intra-squad meet the last day of practice where all the swimmers get the chance to swim and we hand out ribbons. All we ask is that the swimmers can pay attention and they are comfortable in the water. If you are interested please feel free to contact Angie Banning at albanning@hotmail.com.
